Buying Options

What do Jacques Brel, Marguerite Yourcenar, Aimé Césaire, Ibrahim Souss have in common? All of them share the same language, French, and none of them was born in France. The purpose of this book is to introduce, understand and appreciate a wide choice of texts belonging to French-speaking literatures.

The 66 texts are grouped by themes: Women, Exile / crossing the border, Childhood / school .... or by genre: Detective stories. Each text is presented on the left page, with the biography of the author and the explanation of the vocabulary. On the right page, guided activities "Découverte" and "Explorations" help the learner in construction of meaning, in understanding of texts, and in learning the language. Indices by authors and by genres as well as a glossary shedding light on cultural and historical contexts and explaining literary terms are found at the end of the book.
