The coursebook contains 10 units with one theme per unit covered in depth via all 4 skills. Authentic communicative tasks are used to develop students' know-how in their language-learning. The written, audio and video support documents are all recent and taken from diverse Francophone sources and media and include recorded dialogues from everyday life. The course has a focus on grammar and vocabulary and uses a guided approach to grammar acquisition: observation (Échauffement) practice (Entraînement) to explanation of the rules (Fonctionnement). This is supported by tables to illustrate grammar points and printed and recorded vocabulary lists to allow students to acquire "living language". In the middle and at the end of each chapter a "L'essentiel" page reviews the contents of the unit in grammar and oral comprehension revision. Targeted phonetics

exercises are integrated into each unit to help students perfect their pronunciation and intonation. Written and oral comprehensions place students in authentic communicative situations that they may experience in a Francophone setting. Outlines of conversations are included to guide students in their spoken work.

"Culture, Cultures" pages look at aspects of French and Francophone life: cuisine, design, work etc. At the end of each unit, "Atelier meidation" offers group tasks for students to practise mediation and develop their capacity to interact and co-operate in groups.

The last page in each unit alternates between "Vie pratique" with texts and exercises centred on situations from everyday life in France, or a page with learning strategies for the DELF A1 exams. Summaries of phonetics, verb conjugations and transcripts of all the audio and video material complete the book.
