The book is designed for everyone who would like to know Russian folk and modern songs as well as for students learning Russian s a foreign language both in Russia and abroad. It consists of 2 parts. The first part includes Russian folk songs and romances, the second part includes popular lyrical songs by contemporary songwriters. The book is aimed to provide additional material for reading and enrich students' vocabulary, improve their pronunciation and intonation. The texts in the book come with commentary, translations into German, English, French, and with sheet music. The Appendix part in the book at the end includes ritual songs, tongue-twisters and riddles. The tongue-twisters and riddles not only help memorise new words, figures of speech, expressive phrases, but also help in a natural way practise pronunciation of difficult sounds and sound combinations. All together they contribute to students' speech system development.
