Igor Zabelin

Igor Zabelin

Igor Zabelin (1927-1986) was born in Leningrad in 1927. He was a geographer by profession, specialising in the theory of physical geography. Far from being the armchair scientist type, he has explored the remotest areas of the Soviet Union, such as Tuva, Buryatia, Chukotka and Tien Shan, where he collected a wealth of material for his writing in his spare time.

He delights in depicting the hard and adventurous life of geographers and pioneers and unraveling the mysteries of lost expeditions.
