This course uses a communicative approach throughout. Young students are encouraged to talk about themselves and issues that are of interest to them right from the start.
Each unit begins with a short photo-story following the daily life of Christina, a young Belgian girl, with a transcript of the dialogues, comprehension exercises, grammatical explanations and activities to do individually or in pairs. Monsieur Catastrophe, then consolidates the new grammar and structures with further activities. Listening and pronunciation exercises introduce students to phonetics and each unit concludes with a section full of facts and statistics showing how French teenagers live.
At the end of every other unit, students learn a contemporary French song and are given a project to do with the whole class.
Level 1 prepares students to unit A1 of the "DELF 1er degré", level 2 covers units A1 and A2, and level 3 deals with units A2 and A3. Each level provides approximately 60 to 70 hours of classroom study.
